Only A Moment’s Hesitation

Many devastating failures and falls happen, and even life-altering choices can be made, because the decision to do right is not made quickly. When facing temptation, a hesitation to make the right choice, a moment of yielding to wrong desire, a split second of indulging in a lust or giving thought to a fear—is all it takes.

When you are under attack, there is no time for any musing over a decision, or to think the matter through. The crucial need is to act quickly. Immediately. No hesitation. The word the Apostle Paul uses is “flee.”

If a man broke into your house, the slightest hesitation could mean disaster for yourself or your loved ones. The contemplation and strategy should have happened before the attack came on. Once the battle is on, it is time to act.

When the serpent of temptation breaks into your mind, draw your sword and kill.

Only a moment’s hesitation is needed for the enemy to get the upper hand on you.

So make your battle plan before the attack, pray without ceasing, put on the armor of God daily. And when the battle comes on, act quickly.

In the spring of the year, the time when kings go out to battle, David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel… But David remained at Jerusalem. It happened, late one afternoon, when David arose from his couch and was walking on the roof of the king’s house, that he saw from the roof a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful.
