Ragamuffins – A New Comic Strip by Ethan

Life is funny.

Life can sometimes be funny in the sense of “strange” or “odd.” But what I mean here is that life is funny, as in laugh-out-loud funny. Sometimes it is more like “small-chuckle funny,” and sometimes it is downright “belly-laugh funny.”

Just look around. God most definitely has a sense of humor. The animal kingdom sure has some funny critters running around all over the world. And, of course, people are very funny.

Especially kids.

The traveling circus.

Jennifer and I have been blessed with eight of them. Two are presently in college, one is married, and five are still at home. Each one has been, and continues to be, a tremendous blessing to us as their parents… and each one has been very funny at times, in their own way. We try to keep the “funniness” contained and out of the public eye as much as possible. I have often asked my children (especially my teens) when we go into a public place to please not do something weird or strange that might embarrass me. (Of course it’s never the other way around, ha!) And I’m just kidding, of course. But in reality, without really meaning to, we can all be quite peculiar and quite funny. I’m sure it can be the same in your family.

Our second oldest son, Ethan, has lately created a great new comic strip which illustrates how funny kids and families can be. He creates from a place of insight, no doubt. Sometimes the comic simply and creatively shows the innocence and imagination of a child.

It is called Ragamuffins, and is described in this way: “Ragamuffins is a comic strip about a rag-tag group of five siblings. Join Howie, Josie, Lottie, Jack, and Wally as they ride life’s ups and downs :)”

Meet the ragamuffins! The two blondes at the bottom are Josie and Howie, moving up to the right is Jack, above him is Lottie, and finally in the striped shirt is Wally.

I love the creativity. I love the humor. I love the reflection of big-family life. I’m pretty sure you will enjoy it too, so I hope you’ll follow along! You can follow the Ragamuffins on Instagram, and well as on Tumbler

These kids and their parents in this comic seem strangely familiar to me for some reason…
