How Old is the Earth?

How old is the earth? When was it created? Is our planet only thousands of years old, or is it actually millions (or even billions) of years old?

After the progress we have seen in science and discovery over the last 150 years, most folks are aware that science seems to be saying one thing, and the Bible seems to say another. But, how can this be if both the Bible and science belong to God?

As Jennifer and I discussed on previous podcast episodes, it can now be demonstrated (not just assumed) that ancient biblical history is accurate, real history. Major events like the Exodus and the Flood can be placed on the timeline of history, because they happened in the real world. The key is correct biblical chronology.

What if we follow the chronology all the way back to the creation of the world? The corrected biblical chronology (God’s word) leads us to a creation date of approximately 5176 B.C.. This is clearly telling us that the creation of the world by God took place about 7000 years ago.

Yet, if we are honest, we see that science (God’s world) is showing us that we are living on an earth that is much, much older than this. So, what is going on?

Before we venture off into the question of “millions of years,” on this podcast we address the question most closely at hand from a chronological standpoint. Is there evidence in the earth for the existence of people groups/civilizations before the time of Adam? And if so, how are Christians supposed to properly handle such evidence?

As we begin to explore a unique answer to this question, a surprising answer to the looming question of millions (or even billions) of years also begins to come into focus.

I hope you will listen in to this podcast as Jennifer and I go through this big topic in a question and answer format. I believe you will come away with some ideas (and real answers) that you have never thought of before!
